Dr. Jacob Berger

Dr. Jacob Berger is originally from Sherman Oaks, California.  He graduated from Grant High School in Los Angeles.  After attending UC Irvine, Dr. Berger obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the UCLA School of Dentistry-one of the top dental schools in the nation.  Due to his outstanding performance at UCLA dental clinic he was selected to be a member of dental faculty at UCLA School of Dentistry.  He served as a clinic instructor teaching 3rd and 4th year dental students basic and advanced restorative dental procedures.

In 2006, Dr. Berger moved to San Diego where he took over the practice of Dr. Harvey Shapiro following his retirement.

Dr. Berger’s training and philosophy focuses on comprehensive dentistry, which is made up of many types of dental care, including preventive dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, implant dentistry, restorative dentistry, the treatment of periodontal disease, treatment of temporomandibular joint disorders and endodontic treatments.

As a cosmetic dentist, Dr. Berger has a reputation for providing natural looking aesthetic bonding so that teeth appear not to be altered or filled. He is fortunate to be able to utilize some of the best cosmetic dental laboratories in San Diego, so his crowns and porcelain laminates look highly cosmetic and function properly.  Tooth whitening is another common procedure that is performed in order to brighten his patients’ smiles.  This is accomplished using either tray bleaching at home, in office 1hour whitening or a combination of both.

He is also an implant dentist who collaborates with some of the finest implant surgeons in San Diego, to replace lost teeth, eliminate the need for dentures and create aesthetic and long lasting smiles.

As an expert restorative dentist, Dr. Berger restores teeth with cavities or that are cracked or broken in a highly natural and cosmetic way by using white mercury free filling materials.  Most patients desire these and think they look best.  Not only are these restored teeth highly cosmetic, but their fillings are affordable and highly functional.

He is a dentist who also treats periodontal disease, primarily non surgically, using combination of low dose doxycycline therapy and a series of deep cleanings.  These treatments, when combined with improved patient home care, have proven to be very successful and can often save the patients a trip to the periodontist for further “surgical” interventions. Dr. Berger treats patients experiencing pain in the temporomandibular joint and related jaw muscles by fabricating various mouth guard appliances that alleviate pain and lessen symptoms.  These night guards, along with certain behavioral changes, can make a difference and often cause acute symptoms to subside.
